Department of Civil Engineering Labs
The concrete lab deals with the practical aspect of the concrete technology for the second stage in the civil department. The importance of the practical part is not limited to the definition for the student the method of conducting the tests correctly, how to read the results and interpret them and compare them with the specifications adopted locally and globally and then make the right decision in terms of the validity of the tested material for use for construction purposes, but also to define for the student the nature of construction materials and how to deal with them and the designation of practical errors common when conducting laboratory tests.
The concrete lab also supports graduate projects and the postgraduate lab in the department by contributing to the completion of laboratory work and the necessary tests for student research and overcoming the obstacles facing them.
A handbook has been issued that includes a full explanation of all the tests carried out in the laboratory to be a guide for students and researchers and is updated annually.
We would like to inform you about the laboratory soil in the laboratories of civil engineering, where is characterized by the existence of many devices or instruments that benefit students for purposes of education and research and aims labs civil engineering to several goals of which:
1. Excellence in performance laboratory in terms of the accuracy of the results using appliances calibration periodically.
2. Get a certificate of ISO through the application requirements.
3. Preparation of engineers have the ability to make use of experiences laboratory and applied in engineering projects.
4. Preparation the engineers have the ability to teamwork and communicate with other.
5. Provision of possibilities for researchers and studies to complete the research and private that solve problems realistic.
6. Training cadre laboratories in training courses earmarking in the areas of engineering and management and technical and other courses the work of laboratory.
7. Provision of services and supplies needed to complete the scientific research masters in order to contribute in the interest of department, college and university and the community.
8. Contribute to the achievement tests ringed and take advantage of machines modern and communicate with scientific progress of science and engineering.
9. Contribute to get rid of waste of environmental through the use them in scientific research in order to use them in engineering projects.
10. Find a solution for in reducing the cost of building materials by finding the alternatives or materials lowland cost and by specification geometric nigh.
Also seeks labs civil engineering including the laboratory soil to provide the needs of students and researchers of equipment and facilities to accomplish their research and improve them to the highest levels and their education and training to use the services and take advantage of them in the project and field trials.
Also intended to be laboratories distinguished between labs department, college and all universities and kept pace technological development in terms of saving devices modern and digital who kept pace scientific development and provide all inputs to complete the most of experiments and plans research for students and teachers.
The Surveying Laboratory
The Surveying Lab course aims to introduce and develop the basic understanding of the principles of filed engineering surveying, through:
• Prepare students for performing various engineering measurements.
• Introduce common surveying instruments and field technical skills.
• Introduce tabulation and organisation of filed notes.
By the end of the course, students should:
• Have ability of conducting measurements.
• Be familiar with common survey instruments and possess some field technical skills.
• Developed practical field notes organisation skills.
The Surveying lab is extended to two semesters on three hours weekly lab exercises. Students are divided in groups of five to six crews to conduct a specific practical session using a dedicated set of instruments. Apart from Planimeter session, all assignments are carried out in the field. A field book is used to record field notes and data. After the end of each practical, each student must submit his field book to the convenor or one of practical class staff for checking and marking. The final mark of each semester is calculated as 50% for weekly mark, according to participant and submitted field book, and 50% for end-semester practical exam.
Building materials laboratory
