A research team from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Kufa’s Faculty of Engineering has recently published a scientific study in the International Journal of Open Engineering. The study, titled “Assessment for Behavior of Axially Loaded Reinforced Concrete Columns Strengthened by Difference Patterns of Steel-Framed Jacket,” was authored by Assistant Professor Dr. Moayad Adnan Abdel, Lecturer Dr. Wasim Hamza, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Jalil Al-Madani.
Open Engineering, published by DY Gruyter Publishing House, is a Poland-based journal covering a range of engineering fields, including civil engineering. The researchers’ studies appeared in the journal’s second quarter of the 2022 issue. Open Engineering is indexed in the SCOPUS database.
This study aimed to evaluate the optimal design of steel jacketing for strengthening reinforced concrete columns under axial loads. The authors examined the numerical behavior of columns with different steel jacketing arrangements but with the same total amount of steel. They aimed to determine the most effective jacketing pattern for strengthening the axially loaded columns.
