Assistant Professor Dr. Abbas Ali Diwan, Director of the Nanotechnology Research Unit at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kufa, in cooperation with Dr. Khairallah Al-Mousawi and researcher Uday Kazem Al-Kalabi from the Kufa Cement Laboratory, published a research entitled “Dynamic simulation of nanocoating by discrete element method (DEM) of Archard wear for cement mill lining” at the 4th International Scientific Conference on Engineering Sciences and Advanced Technologies, which was published in the Journal of the American Institute of Physics (AIP), which is classified in Scopus. The researchers have studying the problem of mechanical corrosion in cement plants which is one of the main problems in the cement industry, which costs cement manufacturers a lot of money. In their paper, the corrosion of the uncoated liner and the coated liner were modeled by tungsten carbide nanoparticles of the cement plant in the Kufa cement plant. This study was conducted using DEM software to estimate the rate of corrosion with the stabilization of modern external active natural and diamond forces and energies. The results showed a clear improvement in the wear resistance of the lining after the coating process.
