Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Hassan Mahdi Al-Khatib and with the supervision of the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Hussein Ali Abdel Hussein, the Civil Engineering Department held a field visit for graduate students at the desert research station in Najaf. The students were accompanied by Prof. Dr. Hussein Shaker and Dr. Abeer Ibrahim and received by the station manager, Mr. Adel Abbas. A detailed explanation of the work of the station in cultivating rare varieties of wheat and barley, which are irrigated through underground wells, were given. Finally, the students have expressed that such field visits are very important to them to make connection between the theoretical aspects of their studies with the practical side.
