The Department of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering organized a workshop on designing and implementing hydraulic systems in irrigation and drainage networks, with a focus on the pumping system of Marsh Ibn Najm as an example. Dr. Muhammad Shahd Wahd al-Jubouri, Head of the Engineering Design Department at the Water Resources Department in Najaf, led the workshop.
The workshop aimed to provide fourth-stage students with an understanding of hydraulic systems’ importance and implementation steps in the Ibn Najm Marsh region. The attendees comprised a group of students and teachers from civil engineering, facilities, and water resources departments.
The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications for civil engineers, particularly in large-scale projects like the Ibn Najm Marsh pumping system.
Following the workshop, the students and some lecturers visited the work site of Ibn Najm Marsh, accompanied by Dr. Muhammad Shahd and the project’s implementation engineers. The visit ended with recommendations for the students to prioritize theoretical knowledge, the foundation for a successful engineer’s work on-site.
