The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mahdi Al-Khatib, participated in the conference to support the municipal sector and organize cities in Iraq, which was held in the main hall at the culture palace building in Najaf. The conference was attended by a number of Iraqi parliament members, governors, and university presidents. In addition, the deputy ministers and general managers in the Iraqi government.
Professor Al-Khatib stated during the lecture he delivered that the Faculty of Engineering as a part of the University of Kufa is supportive of the comprehensive sustainable development plans, especially through scientific studies, research, and engineering consultancy. This was manifested by being the first Faculty in utilizing renewable energy through the field of solar energy production and its use for service. He indicated that the use of solar energy has a noticeable effect in the context of economic production because of the cost it saves on diesel engines.
