A faculty member from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kufa publishes a journal article in Nanomaterials, one of the MDPI journals in Switzerland

The researcher and faculty member from the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kufa, Dr. Hashim Naji Azooz Al Mahmud, published a joint scientific research, which was entitled “Probing the Influence of Surface Chemical Functionalization on Graphene Nanoplatelets-Epoxy Interfacial Shear Strength using Molecular Dynamics” link: https://www.mdpi.com/2061888
This distinguished scientific output came in cooperation with a research team from Michigan Technological University (MTU) in the United States of America, which was published in “Nanomaterials” journal, one of the Swiss MDPI publishing institutes.
The research included studying the effect of surface chemical functionalization of graphene nanosheets on the mechanical properties of epoxy-based nanocomposites, especially on the interfacial shear strength between the modified nanoplatelets and the hosting matrix. The outcomes indicate an improvement in the molecular structure of nanocomposite materials due to the functionalization. It is worth mentioning that these materials are usually light in weight and have exceptional mechanical properties which can be developed. This makes them ideal for use in aerospace engineering applications and other fields.
The Nanomaterials journal is open access, classified within the first quarter Q1 in Scopus, classified in the Web of Science, and has indexing in PubMed. The Nanomaterials journal also has an Impact Factor of 5.719, Citescore: 6.6, and H-Index of 80.
