This study aims to extract nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO-NP) from tropical hibiscus plant, and to evaluate these nanoparticles for their structure. Nanomaterials are small particles ranging in size from 1-100 nanometers. These materials have been used in several fields, including medicine, biology and pharmaceutical sciences, in addition to studying the antimicrobial activity of (NiO-NP) against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli and S. aureus. The results showed that nickel oxide nanoparticles had antimicrobial properties and inhibited the growth of the test bacterial strains used in this study. It was indicated that these nanomaterials can be used in formulations to treat infections by these organisms.
