The lecturer from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kufa, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Abed Attia, participated in the discussion of the master’s thesis entitled: ”Behavior and failure patterns of lightweight concrete-coated steel columns at highly temperature” for the student Nour Al-Hoda Nima Saleh from the Department of Civil Engineering at the College of Engineering, Al-Qadisiyah University.
The thesis aims at a practical and numerical study of the behavior of steel columns coated with a lightweight, centrally loaded concrete (LWCES) exposed to different temperature values. The present study proposed a numeric model and this model is validated by using (ABAQUS / Standard) program to simulate the behavior and failure patterns of (LWCES and NWCES) columns loaded centrally under different temperature values.
The results showed that (ABAQUS) could reasonably predict failure and behavior patterns of the (CES) columns at different temperatures and different decentralization ratios. Moreover, a validated numerical model was used to conduct a numerical study to examine the effect of different influences on the failure and behavior patterns of the centrally loaded (CES) columns at different temperatures.
