Dr. Ali Abdulhussein Al-Tameemi, a lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Kufa and the representative of Iraq in the Standing Committee for the preparation and updating of the unified Arab building codes, participated in the meeting of the Higher Committee to supervise the updating of the air conditioning and refrigeration codes and the sub-committees of the national codes in accordance with the requirements of the agreement on the elimination of ozone-depleting substances (HPMP).
Al-Tameemi said that one of the objectives of the project to modernize national codes is the need to be working on the use of environmentally friendly refrigerants and ozone layer and that national codes consider the subject of energy efficiency of air conditioning and refrigeration. He pointed out during the meeting the importance of updating the national codes and specifications for air conditioning and refrigeration and in line with Iraq’s implementation of its obligations in the Vienna Convention and the Montreal Protocol to get rid of ozone-depleting substances, part of the project (HPMP).
