University of Kufa attests a novel patent of master’s thesis

The Department of Materials Engineering / Faculty of Engineering / University of Kufa discussed a master’s degree candidate Sarah Mohammed Hussein, whom awarded a master’s degree in materials engineering sciences with excellence grade, besides a novel patent for her entitled research:
The structure and properties of a thin layer on the surface of titanium in the form of sol-gel for medical applications
The student explained that the performance and applications of bio- materials in biological systems are of great importance for the development of biotechnologies and tissue engineering. Titanium and its alloys are considered the most important medical materials to protect metal sheds from corrosion and wear and improve their biological performance. A large number of metal surface improvement techniques have been applied through the use of a wide variety of functional coatings on metal surfaces.
Noting that the sol-gel coating using ceramic materials such as titania and hydroxipatite has received considerable attention in the field of active surface modification of bilogia for titanium roads. These titanium coating technologies play a key role in increasing their required properties in the field of medical applications such as biocompatibility, mechanical resistance, corrosion resistance and wear and tear. In this regard, different coatings of HA, TiO2, bilayer, and composite were applied to an alloy surface of the Ti-Zr-Nb alloy system by the sol-gel technique, and then with a heat treatment at 550 ° C for one hour.
