A Lecturer from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Kufa, as Chairman of the Master Discussion Committee for Reinforced Concrete Columns

The lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Kufa, Ass. Pro. Dr. Luay Al-Shathir, was chosen as the chair of the committee to discuss the master’s thesis entitled: “Repair of damaged reinforced concrete columns using carbon fibers and/or polystyrene glue with polypropylene fibers” for the student Mortada Saadoun Hussein from the University of Babylon, Faculty of Engineering, majoring in Civil Engineering and Construction.
The study provided a scientific explanation of the strengthening process for thin or damaged concrete columns by the harsh conditions that were exposed by using materials such as carbon fiber to restore their efficiency to withstand central or non-central loads and restore their original strength or improve their properties to resist loads. The study was summarized by examining a set of models that reached twelve columns in the laboratory that were reinforced with carbon fiber slices, and after obtaining the results, they were scientifically scrutinized using scientific engineering programs with accurate performance and presenting conclusions and recommendations.
