A research team from the Department of Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and composed of Prof. Dr. Ali Sabaa Hammoud, Dr. Zainab Shaker Radif, and Ass. Lecturer Mahmoud Shaker Nasser published the scientific research entitled: “Electrophoretic Deposition of Nano-Composite Hydroxyapatite/Titania Coating on 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel Substrate” in The Member Journal of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (JOM) specialized in metallurgy and materials engineering, which researchers explained that it is issued by the American Ores, Minerals and Materials Association (TMS), which is within the Springer Publishing Corporation and within the warehouse of Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) with an impact factor of 2.029 and within SJR: Q1 and within Classifications: JCR: Journal Citation Report.
The researchers noting that this journal is devoted to exploring advanced scientific aspects of metallurgical and materials science and engineering in the applied fields of metallic materials, construction materials, functional materials, and material manufacturing. The research deals with coating the surface of (DSS 2205) alloy with hydroxyapatite and titanium oxide particles as a composite nanomaterial using the charged minute precipitation process instead of using the combined stainless steel 316 in the medical application.
The results showed that the ideal sample possessed a homogeneous dense structure free from cracks. Besides, this sample possesses the minimum porosity and the highest corrosion resistance in the body fluid and also has a strong effect in preventing bacterial growth.
