The lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering at University of Kufa, Dr. Hayder Hussein Alghazali, participated to the author of a book published by the International Publishing House: (Elsevier – Woodhead Publishing), with a group of researchers and specialists from the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, China, and other countries to complete the book specialized in self-compacting concrete and entitled:
Self-Compacting Concrete: Materials, Properties, and Application
The main objective of writing this book is to introduce the latest scientific studies regarding the self-compacting concrete from all sides as methods of examination, study its flow, strength, and permanence of this type of concrete, and other properties. Alghazali noted that the participation included writing a chapter of the book regarding creep and shrinkage in self-compact concrete, where the two phenomena that occur in self-compact concrete and the factors that affect them are identified in this chapter. He also mentioned the creep and shrinkage occurring in other types of self-compacting concrete, such as high-performance concrete, and high-strength concrete.
Alghazali stressing the study of the efficiency of the equations used in the international design codes to calculate creep and shrinkage for design purposes, extracting from this in-depth study that there is no model that can cover all types of self-compact concrete in the calculations of creep and shrinkage.
